Wear

Ten Year Residential Wear Warranty

Kraus Carpet Mills warrants that this carpet will not wear more than 10% in the 10 years following its installation, provided that it is installed and maintained indoors according to Kraus recommendations (see CCI Installation Standard and Kraus’ publication ‘How to Maintain your Commercial Carpet’).

This warranty is prorated based on 10 years of service and is not transferable.  It excludes carpet installed on stairs; areas subject to caster action; damage from skates, spiked shoes and other athletic footwear; water damage; the effects of improper installation and maintenance; and willful damage including burns, tears and cuts.  This warranty is void in areas where seams are not properly sealed at installation.  This warranty covers carpet wear (loss of pile) and does not cover soiling, crushing and pooling.

If, after testing the carpet, Kraus determines that the carpet has worn more than 10% and all warranty conditions have been met, Kraus will compensate the owner on a pro rata basis for: (1) the original material cost of the carpet for the area directly affected, and (2) a reasonable installation allowance.

Fuzzing

10 Year FuzzFree Warranty

Kraus Carpet Mills warrants that this carpet will not exhibit abnormal excessive pilling, fuzzing and shedding of pile fibre in the 10 years following it’s installation, provided that it is installed and maintained indoors according to Kraus recommendations.

This warranty is prorated based on 10 years of service and is not transferable.  It excludes water damage, the effects of improper installation and maintenance, and willful damage.

If, after testing the carpet, Kraus determines that the carpet has exhibited abnormal excessive pilling, fuzzing and shedding, and that all warranty conditions have been met, Kraus will compensate the owner pro rata for: (1) the original material cost of the carpet for the area directly affected, and (2) a reasonable installation allowance.

Static

10 Year Anti-Shock Warranty

Kraus Carpet Mills warrants that this carpet will not generate static electricity in excess of 3 kilovolts (tested according to AATCC 134) for the ten years following its installation, provided that it is installed and maintained indoors according to Kraus recommendations (see CCI Installation Standard and Kraus’ publication ‘How to Maintain Your Commercial Carpet’).

This warranty is prorated based on ten years of service and is not transferable.  It excludes the effects of improper installation and maintenance, and willful damage.

If, after testing the carpet according to AATCC 134, Kraus determines that the carpet has generated in excess of 3 kilovolts and that all warranty conditions have been met, Kraus will compensate the owner pro rata for: (1) the original material cost of the carpet for the area directly affected, and (2) a reasonable installation allowance.

Stains

5 Year Limited Stain Resistance Warranty by 3M

3M warrants that for five years from date of original purchase that the surface pile of properly installed and maintained carpet treated with Scotchgard protection and stain release will resist stains from most common food and beverage substances.

3M will repair or replace (including installation) any portion of this carpet which does not perform as warranted.  If a stain cannot be removed, repair or replacement will be limited to the affected area (the stained and adjacent areas extending to the nearest wall, doorway or entrance) of the carpet as qualified by the terms of this warranty.  Costs for moving or replacing equipment, furnishings, partitions, etc. will not be allowed.  In the event that the identical carpet is not available, 3M will provide carpet of comparable cost which is protected by Scotchgard protection and stain release.

Exclusions

Scotchgard protection and stain release provides resistant properties.  This warranty covers qualified food and beverage stains only and not general soiling.  No carpet is stainproof.  Therefore, this warranty excludes stains from:

  • ·         Non-food or non-beverage substances.

  • ·         Foods or beverages that contain strongly colored natural dyes as found, for

example, in mustard, coffee and herbal tea.

  • ·         Substances which destroy or change the color of carpets, such as bleaches, acne
       medications, drain cleaners, plant food.

  • ·         Vomit urine and feces.

  • ·         Reappearance (wicking) of previously cleaned stains.*

This warranty also excludes carpet stains resulting from commercial use (e.g., contracted services, in-home businesses, etc.) or abnormal use or conditions.  “Abnormal use or conditions” includes, but is not limited to, water damage from plumbing, storm or flood damage, conditions resulting from improper cleaning methods or materials, or improper care and maintenance.

This warranty is effective only on Scotchgard protection and stain release branded carpet that does not carry either a fiber or carpet mill manufacturer’s stain protection warranty.  Those warranties take precedence over and void the Scotchgard protection and stain release warranty.  The Scotchgard protection and stain release warranty is non-transferable from the original purchaser to anyone else, and applies to qualified carpet purchased after 4/1/96 and installed in owner-occupied residences.

Further, this warranty does not apply to carpet installed in traffic areas or on stairs.  Surface treatment with in-home protective products other than Scotchgard carpet protector or exposure to abnormal use or conditions will void the terms of this warranty.

Also to be covered by warranty, you must follow the 3M recommended care and cleaning instructions.  The warranty will be voided if you do not do so.  Please note that in the Scotchgard protection and stain release warranty, hot water extraction performed by a Scotchgard certified network cleaner is required at least every 2 years.  These instructions are defined in the Scotchgard protection carpet care guide.
